Member Spotlight: Burson's Delta Resort

Tucked away in the heart of the dense Hiawatha National Forest, Burson's Delta Resort offers travelers and locals a chance to get away and unwind on Foote Lake, just halfway between Manistique and Munising. After stumbling upon the resort by luck, the Burson family began to spend their summer vacations here and fell in love with the history of the lake, rustic cabins, and fantastic fishing. In 1963, the Burson family purchased the resort and have kept the historic charm which was originally founded in the early 1900s.

The resort includes six one of a kind cabins, each made from a different species of trees, giving each site a truly unique experience. With some cabins sleeping up to nine guests, they also offer honeymoon style cabins for a more private get away. They’ve continued to offer that rustic, middle-of-the-woods experience, but with modern amenities such as new heating units, updated bathrooms, and full kitchens, guests can experience the relaxation they’re looking for.

Enjoyed by individuals and families alike for generations, current owners Ted and Louise, will make your stay truly memorable. “I think we are most excited to see the families and groups who have been coming year after year and catching up with them; certain guests have become almost like family to us over the years.” said Louise in response to what they were looking forward to most this year.

Each cabin rental comes with a personal rowboat for guests to use at their leisure. Whether you choose to fish on the practically private lake or just lay out and get some sun while Ted and Louise get the Wednesday night potluck started, you are sure to create memories for years to come.

As they continue the tradition of bringing families together, their family run business spans from themselves, to their daughter handling the online marketing, all the way down to their grandchildren who come up and lend a helping hand with the upkeep of the property.
