The Mustard Seed recently changed ownership and was presented with a Schoolcraft Tourism and Commerce First Dollar Certificate. On hand to make the presentation to new business owner Bristol Snider was STC CEO and Executive Director Alan Barr and STC board member, Bonnie Garvin.
Snider has had ties to Manistique since her grandfather worked for the forestry service in the early 1940s. Spending most of her summers here, she made lifelong friends and ironically enough, worked at the former J.C. Penny store, which was located in the same building years ago.
Snider had been living in Ohio until recently, and is now looking to bring a fresh perspective to the Manistique community. “We’re going to keep the same products and then add some of our own twists,” said Snider. “Some new things to look forward to are having a meeting/event space in the upstairs loft, an increase in coffee selections, and premade gift baskets.”
With her background in retail management she added, “Customer service is a big thing for me. Your customers are why we’re here.”
“The Mustard Seed has been an anchor in the community for a long time and we hope it works the same for her,” stated Barr.
The Mustard Seed is located at 237 S. Cedar St. Store hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
