STC Board Announces New Executive Director

The mission of Schoolcraft Tourism & Commerce is to sustain and enhance the quality of life for businesses, residents, and travelers by focusing on community, workforce, and economic development. The STC Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Alison Cook as its new Executive Director, responsible for carrying out this mission.

Cook joined STC in January of 2018 as the part time Marketing Coordinator. She brought with her knowledge and experience of branding, social media marketing, event planning, and communications. Since her time with the organization, she has led successful programs and events such as STC’s Believers & Achievers Annual Celebration, Westside Flannel Fest, Third Thursday networking events, and more recently, the Live Local Community Gift Card Program.

A native of Manistique, she is passionate about serving Schoolcraft County and addressing unmet needs in the community. “Since moving back to my hometown, I have gained perspective and a deep appreciation of the people who make up our community. Building relationships with business owners, their staff, and the many volunteers, has been so rewarding. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our members and the community in this new capacity and look forward to what we can achieve together.”

Along with her partner Jake, she and her two sons, Theodore 1.5 years old and Harrison 3 months old, reside in Manistique. They spend much of their free time refurbishing one of the city’s classic older homes and enjoy the nature that can be found right outside their front door.

“Alison has proved to be a dedicated advocate for our community and I am certain the best is yet to come,” notes Board Chair and CEO of Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, Bob Crumb.

STC is a hybrid, non-profit organization that merged the functions of the Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Corporation, Manistique Merchants Association and also manages the Schoolcraft County Welcome Center. To connect with Alison directly you can email her at alison.cook@discovermanistique.com or call 906-450-0353.
